Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi won his season's second ski jumping World Cup event and the 32nd of his career on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old landed the day's longest jump of 106 meters with his first attempt and 99 meters with his second to earn 280.9 points, enough to seal the win on the new 105-meter hill's premiere in Trondheim, Norway.

Slovenia's Peter Prevc came second on 280.0 and Austria's Jan Hoerl third on 270.0 in the dress rehearsal for next year's Nordic world ski championships.

"I take pride in being strong under these situations," Kobayashi said after fine-tuning himself with two practice jumps on the new hill.

The Beijing Olympics normal hill gold medalist has endured a frustrating season with 10 runner-up finishes in the World Cup. His previous victory came in January.

"There certainly is that difference in finishing second and first. I'm happy," Kobayashi said.
