Austria's Eva Pinkelnig won Saturday's opening competition of a women's ski jumping World Cup meet at Sapporo's Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium.

Pinkelnig won for the second time this season to move into third in the season standings. She landed jumps of 115.5 and 119.5 meters for a total score of 195.7 points.

Finland's Jenny Rautionaho was second 2.4 back, while Norway's Eirin Maria Kvandal was third. Japan's Sara Takanashi, who once dominated the women's circuit, finished a season-best fourth.

Compatriot Yuki Ito bounced back from a poor opening jump with a superb 103.3-point second effort to finish fifth, although she still dropped to fourth in the season standings.
