Japan's Daiki Hashimoto won the men's floor exercise silver medal at the artistic gymnastics world championships on Saturday, adding to his all-around gold in Liverpool, England.

The 21-year-old scored 14.500 points for his first podium finish in the discipline, while compatriot Ryosuke Doi logged 14.266 to win bronze on his tournament debut. Britain's Giarnni Regini-Moran won for the first time on 14.533.

"I was relaxed. It was a very good performance," said Hashimoto, who was unperturbed despite having his right ankle strapped following an injury suffered in the vault a day earlier during the all-around.

"I could control my body well. Hopefully I'll be at my best again and win gold in the horizontal bar (on the final day on Sunday)."

Doi, who is under the tutelage of three-time floor world champion Kenzo Shirai, said he "could enjoy the occasion."

"I'm frustrated I could not perform to my best, but relieved to have got a medal," said the 20-year-old.
