TOKYO - FC Tokyo right-back Sei Muroya will transfer to Hannover in the German second division ahead of the upcoming season, the J-League club announced Friday.

The 26-year-old will play his last match for FC Tokyo when they face Nagoya Grampus in the J-League first division on Saturday.

A native of Osaka Prefecture, Muroya joined FC Tokyo in 2016 and represented Japan at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games that year.

He has 10 caps for the senior men's national team since debuting for the Samurai Blue in 2017.

Muroya will be the latest FC Tokyo player to move to Europe following Kento Hashimoto's transfer to Rostov in the Russian top flight last month.

"My time with FC Tokyo has prepared me for this challenge," Muroya said in a statement issued through the club.

Hannover, who finished sixth in the 2. Bundesliga standings last season, are also home to Japan midfielder Genki Haraguchi.

The German second division kicks off its new season on Sept. 18.
