Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers ranked 13th on the world's highest-paid athletes list released by Forbes magazine Thursday, the only Japanese in the top 50 and the highest from baseball.

Five footballers made the top 10, followed by three from basketball, with Al Nassr's Cristiano Ronaldo leading the table for the past 12 months as the Portugal star earned an estimated $260 million, with $200 million of it on the field. Ohtani earned $85.3 million over the past year, with $60 million coming off the field.

Spanish golfer Jon Rahm was second on $218 million and Argentina football icon Lionel Messi of Inter Miami third on $135 million. NBA stars LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.

The NBA had the most athletes on the top 50 list with 19. American football's NFL was second with 11 and football third with eight.
