U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres will visit Hiroshima to attend events related to the upcoming Group of Seven summit in the western Japanese city, the world body said Tuesday.

Guterres will leave New York on Wednesday and meet with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on the sidelines of the three-day leaders' meeting of the G-7 industrialized nations that runs from Friday to Sunday, the United Nations said.

On Saturday, the secretary general will take part in meetings discussing how to help improve financial systems affecting developing countries and the fight against climate change, among other topics.

He will hold a press conference on Sunday.
