Mone Chiba came from behind Friday in the women's free skate to finish third at the International Skating Union's Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, extending Japan's streak of women's podium finishes in the meet to 15.

The 18-year-old Chiba was seventh in Thursday's short program but received the second-highest score in the free skate to secure a spot on the podium with a final total of 204.98 points.

"I'm relieved, but from a physical standpoint, my skating became small and never recovered. I want to be able to skate bigger and more beautiful programs," Chiba said.

Japanese women have not been shut out of the Four Continents podium since 2007.
