Japan's Kokona Hiraki finished second and compatriot Sakura Yosozumi third in the women's park event at the skateboarding world championships on Sunday with Miyazaki-born Sky Brown of Britain winning the competition.

Tokyo Olympic silver medalist Hiraki, 14, made her first worlds podium with a score of 86.66 points and 2020 Games gold medalist Yosozumi, 20, earned 85.15 points in Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates.

Brown, also 14, the bronze medalist in Tokyo, came out on top with a score of 90.83 for her first world title.

Hiraki set the record as the youngest-ever Japanese summer Olympian in Tokyo and went on to become the youngest medalist.

In Sharjah, she landed all her tricks in her second of three runs in the final, including a high-difficulty nosegrind with a revert landing.

"I'm happy to have shown everything I wanted to," said Hiraki. "It was fun. Hopefully, I can come up with my best run in the next event as well."

Japanese world championships debutant Hinano Kusaki, another 14-year-old, logged 84.50 to finish fourth.

Jaggar Eaton of the United States won the men's title with a score of 93.00 points.
