Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi was runner-up for the second straight time in the ski jumping World Cup on Saturday and also came third with teammate Naoki Nakamura for Japan in the men's team event.

Kobayashi landed an impressive 136-meter first jump but could only manage 114 meters in his second for a total score of 256.0 points, finishing behind Germany's Andreas Wellinger, whose 264.5 earned him his first World Cup win in five seasons.

"It's frustrating but Wellinger has been having jumps that merit wins all this time and that can't be helped," Kobayashi said. "My performance was very good."

Nakamura was 11th in the morning individual session but rebounded in the evening team event, where Poland scored 800.8 points to win ahead of Austria's 787.6 and Japan's 776.7.

"It was good, I had better jumps than in the individual event," said Nakamura. "Getting to stand on the podium together with Ryoyu made me happy."
