Shohei Ohtani pitched eight innings of one-run ball as the Los Angeles Angels walked off with a 2-1 win against the Houston Astros in 12 innings on Saturday.

The two-way star threw 81 of his 111 pitches for strikes, fanning five, while allowing six hits and no walks in a commanding performance at Angel Stadium.

Looking for his 12th win, Ohtani did not factor in the result after surrendering his only run on J.J. Matijevic's fifth-inning RBI single and leaving with the game tied 1-1 on Ryan Aguilar's seventh-inning sacrifice fly.

"Houston has a good batting lineup, so I just focused on getting them out one by one," Ohtani said. "I was hoping to throw deep into the game, so I was glad it turned out that way."

Matt Duffy broke the tie in the bottom of the 12th, lining a single to center for an RBI off right-hander Seth Martinez.

Despite being 0-for-4 at the plate, Ohtani was intentionally walked in the 11th after Astros manager Dusty Baker opted to prevent him swinging with one out and one on.

"Ideally, I'd have done better a job hitting in my at-bats and made it a better game," Ohtani said.

In other MLB action, Seiya Suzuki extended his hit streak to seven games, and registered his 21st multi-hit game of the year, going 2-for-4 for the Chicago Cubs in an 8-4 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium.

At Fenway Park, Kohei Arihara threw two innings of relief for the Texas Rangers in their 5-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox, giving up two runs, one earned, on four hits and a walk, while striking out one.

Yusei Kikuchi took the mound in the top of the third at Pittsburgh's PNC Park, striking out five and allowing a run on four hits and a walk over 2-1/3 inning for the Toronto Blue Jays, who beat the Pirates 4-1.
