- Taiwan on Saturday reported the first infections with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus, in three people arriving from outside the island.
- Three World Cup ski jump meets that were to be held in Japan next month have been canceled due to strict border controls intended to slow the spread of the coronavirus Omicron variant, the Ski Association of Japan announced Saturday.
- In a city about 60 kilometers north of Seoul is a theme park that makes visitors feel like they have time-traveled to Japan when even normal trips remain impossible for many due to the coronavirus pandemic.
