The International Olympic Committee on Monday decided to include breakdancing as a sport in the 2024 Summer Games, adding it to the official Olympic program for the first time.

Of the summer sports meant to debut at the Tokyo Olympics, which have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, a second inclusion has been confirmed for skateboarding, sport climbing and surfing, while baseball/softball and karate have been dropped.

The decision comes as the IOC approved event programs and athlete quotas for the 2024 Summer Games at its executive board meeting.
