South Korean President Moon Jae In and U.S. President Donald Trump agreed Saturday to maintain momentum for dialogue between Washington and Pyongyang, South Korea's presidential office said.

The two leaders held talks by phone at the request of Trump, according to the presidential office.

North Korea on Tuesday again urged the United States to make concessions in denuclearization talks, with a year-end deadline set by Pyongyang for progress in the negotiations looming.

Pyongyang has recently warned that it will resume nuclear and intercontinental ballistic missile tests should denuclearization negotiations with the United States fail to achieve a breakthrough by the end of the year.

The state-run Korean Central News Agency said Wednesday the North will discuss and decide on "crucial issues" at a key party meeting later this month in line with "the changed situation at home and abroad."
