Japan attacker Daichi Kamada struck twice in the second half to lead Eintracht Frankfurt to a 2-1 comeback win over Arsenal in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Group F game was played in front of an empty away end at London's Emirates Stadium after UEFA banned Frankfurt fans from attending the match for bad behavior earlier in the competition.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had given the English Premier League side the lead in first-half injury time, but the visitors drew level 10 minutes after the break when Kamada netted his maiden Europa League goal in eye-catching fashion.

Receiving the ball at the top right of the box, Kamada cut to his left, leaving defender Sokratis in his wake as he curled a low, left-footed shot inside the opposite post.

The 23-year-old struck the winner nine minutes later, pouncing on a corner-kick clearance and driving home a well-aimed effort with his right foot from the edge of the area.

"Arsenal are a big club, so it was nice timing to score against them," said Kamada, who joined Frankfurt on loan from Belgian side Sint-Truiden in the offseason.

The brace was a welcome breakthrough for Kamada, who has yet to score in 11 Bundesliga games with Frankfurt.

After primarily starting as a second striker for Sint-Truiden, Kamada has played mostly as an attacking midfielder for the German club, which is also home to former Japan captain Makoto Hasebe.

"I'd never gone this long without scoring as a professional. These are goals I won't forget," said Kamada, who started his career with J-League side Sagan Tosu.

The win leaves Frankfurt on nine points in Group F, one point behind leaders Arsenal and two ahead of third-place Belgian side Standard Liege after five games.

Frankfurt will look to carry their momentum into the Bundesliga, where they have struggled to find form and sit in 10th place after 12 games.

Elsewhere in Europe, Japan winger Takuma Asano opened the scoring for Partizan Belgrade in a 2-2 draw away to Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in Europa League Group L.
