Urawa Reds on Friday filed a letter of protest to the Asian Football Confederation over aggressive behavior by players from South Korea's Jeju United at the end of and after their encounter at Saitama Stadium.

Reds claimed a 3-0 extra-time win over Jeju on Wednesday to reach the Asian Champions League quarterfinals, overcoming a 2-0 deficit from the first leg, but the game was marred by a late brawl that involved not just players but also staff and officials.

Jeju's unused substitute Baek Dong Gyu charged off the bench and ran the width of the pitch to elbow Reds captain Yuki Abe in the head to spark the on-pitch fight in the dying seconds. He received a straight red card while Kweon Hang Jin was also given his marching orders after the game for violent conduct. Cho Yong Hyung had earlier been sent off after receiving two yellow cards.

"We were here tonight to play football, but they resorted to pro wrestling, karate, all kinds of stuff," said Urawa defender Tomoaki Makino, who was chased from the field by Kweon. "They lost the game, lost in terms of performance and tried to turn it into a fight."
