At least 141 people are feared buried alive following a massive landslide Saturday morning in southwestern China's Sichuan Province, according to state-run media.

Part of a mountain collapsed around 6 a.m., burying 46 houses in the village of Xinmo in Maoxian County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, according to Xinhua News Agency, quoting the provincial government.

The landslide, reportedly triggered by heavy rains, also blocked a 2-kilometer stretch of a river and buried 1,600 meters of road.

Images from the scene broadcast by state-run China Central Television showed a large-scale rescue operation underway involving hundreds of rescuers, with Chinese President Xi Jinping reportedly ordering "all-out efforts" to save those buried.

At least two people were pulled alive from the rubble by rescuers.
