Japanese comedian Piko Taro received a year's worth of Dole pineapples Tuesday for "promoting" the fruit in his hit song "Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen," or PPAP.

Piko Taro, attending a ceremony in Tokyo to receive a certificate of appreciation from Dole Food Co., delighted the audience as he emphasized the word "Pineapple" more than usual while singing PPAP.

The mind-boggling song gained worldwide attention when pop star Justin Bieber shared a video clip of it on the Internet as his favorite video last September.

"This is an official occasion, and I'm so excited," Piko Taro said.

Asked by a participating reporter how his life has gone since his popularity boomed, Piko Taro said, "I hear that Kosaka Daimao (Piko Taro himself) has had good food lately and even bought four leather jackets."

Piko Taro even made a comment about Mao Asada's decision to retire from competitive figure skating.

"She is only 26 years old and has more than 60 years left in her life," Piko Taro said. "I look forward to what she does next."
