Japan Rugby League One leaders Saitama Wild Knights extended their unbeaten start to the season to 11 straight wins with a 55-22 demolition of defending champions Kubota Spears on Friday.

Japan center Dylan Riley and attacking dynamo Takuya Yamasawa each scored a brace of tries for the Robbie Deans-coached Wild Knights, who exacted a measure of revenge for their upset loss to the Spears in last season's championship final.

Yuhei Shimada's penalty briefly gave Kubota the lead before World Cup-winning Springbok Damian de Allende ran straight through the middle for a five-pointer that opened the floodgates at Prince Chichibu Memorial Rugby Ground.

Koki Takeyama, Taiki Koyama and Riley also went over to make it 26-3 at the end of the first half as the Saitama backs built upon a dominant performance by their pack.

Yamasawa scored his first and Riley added his second with another run right through the middle of the Kubota defense before Frans Ludeke's side salvaged some pride with the result already beyond doubt.
