A nightly projection mapping display debuts at the Tokyo metropolitan government's headquarters building and is recognized as the largest of its kind in the world by Guinness World Records. Titled "Tokyo Night & Light," the year-round show comprises of images projected on the eastern facade of the complex's 48-story Main Building No. 1, covering roughly 14,000 square meters from the building's fourth to 32nd floors. Feb. 26

Some 1,550 traditional Japanese "hina" dolls are displayed on a 7-meter-high, 31-tier pyramid at a shopping mall in Konosu, Saitama Prefecture, in celebration of the March 3 Girls' Day festival. The town of Konosu is famous for producing "hina" dolls, which are traditionally put on display every spring in the homes of families with daughters. (Kyodo)

Feb. 27

Low-speed electric vehicles modeled after the Cat Bus from Studio Ghibli's animation film "My Neighbor Totoro" are unveiled during a press preview at the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park in Nagakute, Aichi Prefecture. Visitors will be able to ride the vehicles starting March 16. (Kyodo)
