Japan's Naoko Fujioka successfully defended her WBA women's flyweight title on Friday night, beating Mexico's Irma Sanchez in a unanimous decision.

The fight at Korakuen Hall was 43-year-old Fujioka's first defense of the belt she won by beating Mexico's Isabel Millan by technical knockout in March 2017.

"I feel like I have room to improve instead of feeling I'm weakening at this age," Fujioka said. "I want to keep boxing so I can be a role model to the younger generation."

Fujioka improved to 18-2 with seven knockouts, while the 30-year-old Sanchez fell to 30-8 with one draw.

In December, Fujioka became the first Japanese boxer to be crowned world champion in five different weight classes when she claimed the WBO women's light flyweight title.

She claimed the WBC mini fly crown in December 2010 and the WBA super fly title three years later. She won the WBO bantamweight belt in October 2015.
