Sanfrecce Hiroshima have acquired Thailand international forward Teerasil Dangda on loan from Thai side Muangthong United, the J-League club announced Tuesday.

The deal for the 29-year-old striker, who has scored 42 goals in 91 appearances for his country, runs from February next year until the end of December.

Regarded as one of the top forwards in Southeast Asia, Teerasil was earlier linked with a possible move to J-League champions Kawasaki Frontale, according to reports.

The 1.81-meter forward is the second Thai player to join a J-League team, after 24-year-old midfielder Chanathip Songkrasin signed with Consadole Sapporo in June, also on loan from Muangthong.

Signed to Manchester City as a teenager, Teerasil has played the past nine seasons with Muangthong, one of the richest clubs in Thailand, save for a brief loan spell with Spanish side Almeria.

In a statement on Sanfrecce's website, Teerasil said he was excited by the challenge of playing in the J-League, which is watched by many people in Thailand.
