Kenta Maeda pitched seven scoreless innings for his 10th win of the season to help lift the Los Angeles Dodgers over the Atlanta Braves 3-2 for their ninth consecutive victory on Tuesday.

With his fourth win in as many starts, Maeda, who went 16-11 in his rookie season, improved his ERA to 3.79 and became the fifth Japanese major leaguer in history to post double-digit wins in his first two seasons.

Hideo Nomo (Dodgers, 1995-1996), Daisuke Matsuzaka (Boston Red Sox, 2007-2008), Yu Darvish (Texas Rangers, 2012-2013) and Masahiro Tanaka (New York Yankees, 2014-2015) also accomplished the feat.

At SunTrust Park, Maeda (10-4) yielded just two hits while striking out six and walking one in his 94-pitch effort to outduel Braves starter Lucas Sims (0-1), who gave up three runs in six innings of work.

The 29-year-old Japanese right-hander, who surrendered a homer to Matt Adams last season when he batted cleanup for the St. Louis Cardinals, held the lefty hitter hitless in two at-bats.

"I tried to speed up my tempo and went aggressively against the batters today. I used all types of pitches effectively. Ten wins is a confident boost," Maeda said.

Maeda has been making a strong case to keep his rotation spot, while competition for starting pitchers will get tougher with the addition of Darvish, who was traded to the Dodgers from the Rangers just before Monday's trade deadline.

"I never imagined I'd play on the same team as him," Maeda said of his Japanese compatriot who is scheduled to make his debut with the Dodgers on Friday.

At Marlins Park in Miami, Junichi Tazawa got three outs in the eighth inning to help the Miami Marlins edge the Washington Nationals 7-6.

Tazawa came on as the fifth of six Marlins pitchers to take the mound, and retired the three batters he faced with ease. Marlins teammate Ichiro Suzuki flied out in his only pinch-hit appearance in the eighth.
