Japan will take on a World XV on Oct. 28 as part of their preparations for the November test window, the Japan Rugby Football Union announced Wednesday.

The game, at Fukuoka's Level 5 Stadium, comes a week before the Brave Blossoms play Australia in Yokohama, and head coach Jamie Joseph said it was the ideal warm-up game.

"I'm really excited about the World XV game," said Joseph, who is currently in camp with his team in Fukuoka ahead of Saturday's test with Romania. "It's obviously a big match. We play it one week before we play the Wallabies and as we know from the past the World XV always brings a strong contingent of international rugby players, so I can't wait."

The invitation side will be coached by Panasonic Wild Knights boss Robbie Deans, who was in charge the last time the two sides met, back in 2015 in Tokyo.

"It is great to have the World XV fixture vs Japan confirmed in the calendar," said Deans. "A similar match played in 2015 between these two sides played a significant part in preparing the national team for the World Cup, in particular the first outing against South Africa."

Deans was triumphant two years ago when his side led by Springbok legend Bakkies Botha won 45-20, and he is hoping this year's fixture will be just as entertaining.

"I have no doubt that this game will provide a similar spectacle where world class players will have the opportunity to test the Japan team without the inhibiting element of it being a test match. It will make for compelling viewing as Jamie Joseph continues to develop his combinations towards 2019," he said.

Following the games against the World XV and the Wallabies, Japan head to Europe.

At present opponents for games on Nov. 11 and 18 have yet to be determined, but a source in Europe has said the first game is likely to be against Italy.

The Brave Blossoms wrap up their tour with a test against France on Nov. 25 in Lille.
