South Korea's military on Tuesday fired about 90 rounds of warning shots at a flying object near the border with North Korea, Yonhap News Agency said, citing the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The military detected the object flying across the Military Demarcation Line southward in the Chorwon area in the eastern province of Gangwon at around 4 p.m., according to the JCS.

The South fired the warning shots along with a warning broadcast, the JCS said.

"The flying object has not been identified and its flight trajectory is being analyzed," a military official said.

The military authorities are trying to find out more details about the object, focusing on the possibility that it is a drone sent by North Korea.
