Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani said Tuesday he is finally sleeping better after being hit by a money scandal tied to his former interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara, at the start of the season.
"Initially, I really didn't have much sleep, obviously, with the things that were happening," Ohtani told reporters after a game against the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park. "But now I've been able to really have a pretty consistent routine, been able to sleep well, so I think those are leading to good results."
Earlier in the day, Mizuhara, 39, attended a court hearing in Los Angeles on two charges, including bank fraud in connection with the unauthorized use of nearly $17 million of Ohtani's money to cover gambling debts and other personal expenses.
The Dodgers fired Mizuhara during the team's season-opening trip to Seoul in March.
