The death toll from a volcanic eruption on Indonesia's Sumatra Island reached 22 on Tuesday, with one mountain climber still unaccounted for, according to local rescuers.
At least 75 mountain climbers were in the area when 2,891-meter Mt. Marapi in West Sumatra Province erupted Sunday afternoon. More than 50 of the climbers managed to descend or were evacuated by rescuers.
Indonesia sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where many volcanic eruptions and earthquakes occur.
