American superstar gymnast Simone Biles will not defend her Olympic women's floor event title on Monday at the Tokyo Games, USA Gymnastics announced on social media.

"Simone has withdrawn from the event final for floor and will make a decision on beam later this week. Either way, we're all behind you, Simone," USA Gymnastics tweeted Sunday.

The latest shock comes after Biles withdrew after just one rotation of the women's team final. She then did not compete in women's all-around competition earlier this week, citing a need to focus on her mental health.

Biles has spoken about the stress she has been feeling at these Olympics, which are being held following a one-year postponement and without spectators at most venues.

The 24-year-old won four golds and a bronze at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games and is widely considered one of the best gymnasts of all time.
