A Russian athlete at the Pyeongchang Olympic Games is suspected of having committed a doping violation, Russia's Tass news agency reported Sunday.

Russia's national Olympic committee has been banned from attending the games, but Russian athletes without a history of doping violations are competing as "Olympic Athletes from Russia."

"Today, our delegation has received an official notification from the International Olympic Committee about a possible doping abuse," the news agency quoted the OAR delegation's press attache, Konstantin Vybornov, as saying.

Vybornov declined to name the athlete or what sport he competes in, but Sport FM radio station cited a source as identifying the athlete as Alexander Krushelnitzky, a curling mixed doubles bronze medalist.

The head of Russia's curling federation, Dmitry Svishchev, told Tass that the athlete in question had refuted claims that he had taken meldonium, the banned substance in question.
