The Russian Olympic Committee announced its support Tuesday for the participation of their individual athletes as neutrals at next year's Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Russian athletes who choose to participate in next February's games will not be able to use their national flag or anthem during the games, and their uniform will bear the name "Olympic Athlete from Russia."

The ROC's decision will also be supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Last Tuesday, the International Olympic Committee banned Russia from competing at Pyeongchang over state-sponsored doping at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, but decided to allow athletes from the country to compete as individuals if they pass strict scrutiny.

No athletes so far have indicated they will boycott the games.
