Boston Red Sox left fielder Masataka Yoshida had a pair of extra-base hits and drove in three runs in a 9-4 win over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday.

His RBI triple opened the scoring in a four-run first inning, and Yoshida also broke a 4-all tie with a run-scoring, ground-rule double to right in the fifth at Fenway Park.

The Red Sox also got offensive help from Justin Turner and Jarren Duran, who homered and drove in two runs apiece, on their way to snapping a four-game losing streak.

Yoshida, a two-time batting champion in Japan's Pacific League, added an RBI groundout in the eighth and finished 2-for-5 on the night.

"I'm glad that I drove in runs when the team needed them," Yoshida said.

On the first triple in his major league rookie season, Yoshida said, "I saw the ball take a big bounce off the wall (and roll away from center fielder Julio Rodriguez), so I knew I could reach third base."

In other action, Chicago Cubs right fielder Seiya Suzuki hit his third home run of the season, a two-run shot, among his two hits in a 7-3 loss to the Houston Astros.

Two-way star Shohei Ohtani went hitless in four at-bats in the Los Angeles Angels' 7-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles, a day after he pitched seven innings while falling a double shy of the cycle with three RBIs.
