- South Korea reported a record-high number of more than 170,000 daily coronavirus cases on Wednesday, amid the rapid spread of the Omicron variant across the nation.

- Japan reported a record 319 daily coronavirus deaths on Tuesday, topping the 300 mark for the first time, while the number of new infections dropped from a week earlier.
As of 11 p.m., Monday, Feb. 21
- The head of Japan's largest business lobby suggested Monday that the country's border controls aimed at preventing the spread of the coronavirus are not based on epidemiological grounds, calling on the government to further ease them by simplifying immigration procedures.
- Australia on Monday reopened its border to all fully-vaccinated international travelers for the first time in almost two years, after first shutting it in March 2020 in an attempt to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
