Sara Takanashi claimed her fifth straight ski jumping national championship on Friday, winning the women's normal hill event at Miyanomori Schanze in Sapporo.

Placed third after her opening attempt, the Pyeongchang Olympic bronze medalist produced a second straight jump exceeding 90.5 meters to come from behind with 236.1 points.

Nozomi Maruyama was 0.3 point behind in second followed by Yuki Ito, who led after her first attempt.

Ryoyu Kobayashi won the men's event with jumps of 92 and 97 meters, scoring 255.8 points. Keiichi Sato and Junshiro Kobayashi rounded out the podium, while 49-year-old legend Noriaki Kasai was 22nd.
