Japan forward Takumi Minamino recorded his long-awaited first goal in the English Premier League on Saturday by opening the scoring in Liverpool's 7-0 victory over Crystal Palace.
Minamino, who joined Liverpool from Austrian champions Red Bull Salzburg in January, found the net for the visitors just three minutes into the match at Selhurst Park to collect his first goal in 18 league appearances.
The 25-year-old was teed up by Sadio Mane in a crowded penalty area and produced a couple of feints before unleashing into the bottom corner to set the tone for the Premier League champions, who moved six points clear at the top of the table.
Minamino opened his account for Liverpool in August when his side lost to Arsenal on penalties in the Community Shield. He also bagged a brace in the third round of this season's Carabao Cup.
In the Belgian top flight, Yuma Suzuki scored his sixth goal of the season in Sint-Truiden's 2-0 away win over Zulte Waregem. Japan goalkeeper Daniel Schmidt kept a clean sheet for the visitors.
In the French first division, Marseille right-back Yuto Nagatomo unintentionally deflected a low cross and scored an own goal before the club salvaged a 1-1 draw against Reims with an equalizer from Florian Thauvin.
