The East Gardens of the Imperial Palace grounds reopened Tuesday to the public after a closure of about two months due to the novel coronavirus.

Despite the resumption, the number of visitors will be limited to 50 each in the morning and afternoon, as part of preventive measures against the COVID-19 disease, according to the Imperial Household Agency.

The agency will ask them to wear face masks and staff will check their temperatures at the entry.

The East Gardens had been closed since March 28, while the Museum of the Imperial Collections, which also reopened Tuesday, shut its doors on Feb. 29.
