The organizer of the Tokyo Game Show said Friday it will consider holding this year's event online due to the ongoing spread of the novel coronavirus.

Given that the outlook for the virus outbreak remains unpredictable, "There is even a possibility that the event could be canceled," a spokesperson of the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association said.

The final decision on how to hold the event will be made late this month at the earliest, the association said.

The show held from Sept. 12 to 15 last year attracted a total of 262,076 visitors, according to the association.
