TOKYO - The following are updates on major shops, eateries and department stores in Tokyo and its vicinity that are temporarily closed or operating with shortened hours to curb the spread of new coronavirus. Meanwhile, many shops have reopened in prefectures where the state of emergency has been lifted.

Aeon - Supermarkets will remain open but tenant shops will be closed in principle at Aeon Mall shopping facilities in Tokyo and various other prefectures until further notice. Meanwhile, 42 Aeon Malls at 19 prefectures elsewhere have reopened from May 13 with shortened hours (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.) Also, some Aeon supermarkets are offering priority checkout lanes during designated hours for the elderly, pregnant women and others at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. 

Update! Bic Camera - Most Bic Camera branches nationwide are open with shotened hours. A few locations in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, Hokkaido, Aichi, and Okinawa prefectures will be closed until further notice.

Update! Big Echo - Big Echo has resumed business at some of its karaoke shops in 24 Prefectures as of May 25, but the rest of its stores nationwide will remain closed until further notice.

Daimaru, Matsuzakaya - Daimaru Tokyo, Matsuzakaya Ueno and Daimaru Sapporo department stores have reopened their grocery sections on weekdays only, with shortened hours. All other Daimaru and Matsuzakaya stores nationwide have resumed business on all floors, but are open only on weekdays and with shortened hours.

H.I.S. - All branches will be closed in principle until further notice. 

Ito Yokado - Ito Yokado supermarkets nationwide are open and offer priority checkout lanes during designated hours for the elderly, pregnant women and others at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. Meanwhile, tenant shops at Ito Yokado's Ario shopping malls in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama, and Hokkaido remain closed in principle until further notice. 

Japan Post - Post offices nationwide are open but some will operate with shortened hours until further notice. 

Keio - Keio Shinjuku and Keio Seisekisakuragaoka department stores have reopened their grocery sections with shortened hours but other floors remain closed until further notice.

Update! LaLaport - LaLaport shopping malls in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, and Saitama prefectures are closed in principle until further notice, but grocery stores, pharmacies, medical clinics and other essential services at some location will be open. LaLaport malls in other prefectures have reopened as of May 25.

Update! Lumine - Lumine Ikebukuro, Lumine Yurakucho and Lumine Est Shinjuku will be closed until further notice. Lumine Shinjuku, Lumine Machida, Newoman Shinjuku and eight other Lumine shopping centers in Tokyo, Kanagawa and Saitama prefectures will open only their grocery sections.

Update! Marui - Yurakucho Marui, Shinjuku Marui, Shibuya Marui, Ikebukuro Marui and other Marui department stores in Tokyo and neighboring prefectures remain closed until further notice, although grocery sections at some locations will open with shortened hours. Marui stores in Shizuoka, Osaka, Hyogo and Fukuoka prefectures have reopened. 

Matsuya - Matsuya Ginza department store has reopened its grocery section with shortened hours, and plans to resume business on all floors from June 1 with shortened hours. Matsuya Asakusa will be closed until further notice. 

McDonald's - Eat-in space will be closed at all McDonald's shops in Tokyo and other prefectures that remain under the extended state of emergency until further notice. Orders will be limited to takeouts, drive-through and delivery. Meanwhile, eat-in space will reopen in prefectures where the state of emergency has been lifted and where local authorities are not requesting the suspension of businesses. 

Mitsukoshi, Isetan - Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi, Mitsukoshi Ginza, Mitsukoshi Ebisu, Isetan Shinjuku, Isetan Tachikawa and Isetan Urawa department stores will be closed until further notice. Mitsukoshi and Isetan online shops have reopened.

Odakyu - Odakyu Shinjuku and Odakyu Machida department stores will be closed until further notice. Grocery sections will open with shortened hours.

Parco - Parco shopping malls in Tokyo, Chiba and Saitama prefectures will be closed in principle until further notice, but grocery sections and medical clinics at some locations will open. Parco malls in other prefectures have reopened. 

Update! Round One - Round1 indoor leisure facilities in prefectures where the state of emergency has been lifted have reopened. The remaining 33 locations in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Gunma and Hokkaido prefectures expect to resume business from June 1.

Update! Seibu, Sogo - Seibu Ikebukuro, Seibu Shibuya, Seibu Tokorozawa, Seibu Higashitotsuka, Sogo Yokohama, Sogo Chiba, Sogo Omiya and Sogo Kawaguchi department stores have reopened their grocery sections and floors selling daily necessities from May 23.

Shibuya 109 - Fashion building Shibuya 109 will be closed until further notice.

Update! Starbucks - Starbucks shops nationwide have reopened in principle from May 19 with shortened hours, but orders will be limited to takeouts (and drive-through where available) in Tokyo, Chiba, Saitama, Kanagawa and Hokkaido prefectures. Eat-in space will be open at stores in all other prefectures while observing social distancing.

Takashimaya - Nihombashi Takashimaya, Takashimaya Times Square, Yokohama Takashimaya and other Takashimaya department stores in areas still under the state of emergency have partially resumed sales of daily necessities in addition to groceries. Other Takashimaya stores in prefectures where the state of emergency has been lifted have reopened.

Tipness - Tipness fitness gyms nationwide will be closed through May 31, with the exceptions of two branches in Shizuoka Prefecture that have reopened on May 18. 

Tobu - Tobu Ikebukuro and Tobu Funabashi department stores will be closed until further notice. Grocery sections will open with shortened hours. Tobu Utsunomiya and Tobu Otawara have reopened. 

Update! Toho Cinemas - Toho Cinemas theaters remain closed in Tokyo and neighboring prefectures, but some locations have reopened in areas where the state of emergency has been lifted and where local authorities are not requesting the suspension of businesses.

Tokyu - Tokyu Shibuya, Tokyu Kichijoji, Tokyu Tama Plaza and Tokyu Sapporo department stores will be closed until further notice. Grocery sections will open with shortened hours.

Tully's Coffee - Some Tully's Coffee shops in Tokyo and other prefectures will be closed until further notice. Other stores will be open with shortened hours.

Update! Uniqlo - Most Uniqlo stores in Tokyo are open, except for shops located in shopping malls and other facilities that remain temporarily closed.

Yamada Denki - Yamada Denki stores nationwide will open with shortened hours (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.) until further notice.

Update! Yodobashi Camera - Yodobashi Camera stores in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba and Hokkaido prefectures are open with shortened hours and customers are required to wear face masks when visiting the stores. Shops in other prefectures have reopened with normal business hours.
