China on Tuesday reported no new coronavirus-related deaths in Wuhan, the epicenter of the country's outbreak, for the first time since the viral epidemic began making headlines in January.

The central Chinese city also detected no new symptomatic infection cases in the 24 hours to the end of Monday, the National Health Commission said, as Wuhan plans to allow residents to step outside of the city from Wednesday for the first time since going into lockdown on Jan. 23.

In total, there were 1,033 asymptomatic cases, patients who tested positive but exhibited no symptoms, still under medical observation.
