A unique service of renting shampoo and other toiletries for a fee is proving a hit at a public bathhouse in Sapporo.

Customers at "Kyoeiyu" in Sapporo's Shiorishi Ward can choose from more than a dozen types of shampoo, conditioner and body wash and use the selected products freely.

The bathhouse continued the service after a trial in the fall of last year was a success. The fee is 50 yen for body soap and 100 yen for the rest. Among the products is a luxury shampoo that costs 6,000 yen (around $55) per bottle.

"The number of women in their 30s and 40s using the service has increased," said Kyoeiyu owner Norio Iori.

Products were decided upon based on Iori and his wife's favorite beauty salon and also his wife's advice. The bathhouse has around 30 different types of product so far.

Women tend to choose products that match their hair quality, while men tend to decide on shampoo that stimulates the scalp. There are various ways to clean your hair and wash your worries away.
