A day after rewriting his world record in the men's short program, Yuzuru Hanyu took the rink on Saturday in a bid to pull off another stellar program at the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships.

The 25-year-old Japanese practiced at a training rink at Mokdong Ice Rink in Seoul ahead of Sunday's free program.

While skating to "Seimei," his free program music, he failed to land a quad lutz, but nailed three quad jumps including a salchow and toe loop. He also executed a pair of triple axels. The music is the same he skated to en route to 2018 Olympic gold.

Hanyu is looking to win his maiden Four Continents title, having finished runner-up behind American reigning world champion Nathan Chen in the 2017 tournament in Gangneung, the 2018 Olympic venue.

With a short program score of 111.82, Hanyu has a comfortable lead of 15.99 over China's Jin Boyang, the 2018 Four Continents champion.

This is the first time Hanyu has competed since deciding to return to the music he used at the Pyeongchang Games. At that time, he became the first Olympic men's champion in 66 years to defend his title.
