After a thrilling free skate showdown with rival Yuzuru Hanyu, American figure skating world champion Nathan Chen won the ISU Grand Prix Final men's competition on Saturday with a record-breaking total score of 335.30. Hanyu, who celebrated his 25th birthday the same day, settled for second.

In the women's competition, 16-year-old Alena Kostornaia led Russia's podium sweep at Turin Palavela, setting a world record with a two-day total of 247.59. Japan's Rika Kihira failed to defend her title, finishing fourth.
