Amazon Inc. on Wednesday announced updates to its smart devices and new wireless earbuds at its annual hardware event in Seattle.

The company introduced its new Amazon Echo, priced at $99 with better sound quality and new fabric design colors, and a high-end Echo Studio with speakers that enable 3D sound, priced at $199.

Also announced was a new Echo Dot featuring a clock as well as temperature readouts and alarms on an LED display, with the price tag of $59.

The Seattle-based e-commerce company has sold an estimated 98.9 million Echo devices in the United States since its launch in 2014, according to tech-research company Loup Ventures.

It currently holds a majority share of the smart-speakers market at an estimated 53.3 percent, but Google Home is projected to surpass it in 2021.

Amazon's new wireless earbuds, Echo Buds, will feature Bose technology for noise reduction and offer five hours of battery life from a single charge or up to 20 hours with case. Pre-order started Wednesday with a price of $129.

Currently, Apple Inc.'s AirPods holds 53 percent of the global market in the category, which includes competitors like Samsung Electronics Co. and Bose Corp., according to industrial analyst firm Counterpoint Research. Samsung is in second place with 8 percent market share.

Amazon revealed new Alexa capabilities like a multilingual mode, available in three pairs to start: the United States will have English and Spanish, India will have Hindi and English, and Canada will have English and French.

Companies with smart assistants are facing scrutiny over privacy woes.

Amazon at its annual event highlighted a series of new privacy features like an opt-in option in its Privacy Hub that allows customers to have their voice recordings automatically deleted on a rolling basis over a 3- to 18-month period.

"Privacy is absolutely foundational to everything we do in and around Echo and Alexa," said Dave Limp, Amazon's hardware chief, at the company's press event.
