Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout has bagged the richest individual contract in American sports history with an extension guaranteeing him $430 million over the next 12 years, U.S. media reported Tuesday.

The 27-year-old slugger, who has been an All-Star every season since his Rookie of the Year campaign with the Angels in 2012, would have become a free agent following the 2020 season under his current six-year deal. The extension will keep him with the American League club through 2030.

Trout's historic contract surpasses a record set earlier this month when Bryce Harper signed with the Philadelphia Phillies on a 13-year deal worth $330 million.

Over a total of 1,065 games in the majors, Trout holds a batting average of .307 with 240 homers and 648 RBIs. He won AL Most Valuable Player honors in 2014 and 2016, while finishing as runner-up four times including last season.
