Pyeongchang Olympic gold and silver medalists Alina Zagitova and Evgenia Medvedeva will perform in a Japanese TV ad for a smartphone role-playing game.

The ad titled "Reunion" will be aired from Monday, featuring the Russian pair skating in costume as characters of the game, "Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Gaiden."

The commercial was filmed in Moscow, with Zagitova performing as character Madoka Kaname and Medvedeva as Akemi Homura.

Zagitova skated as the same character in a previous ad for the game last August, while it is the first time for Medvedeva to appear in a Japanese commercial.

Medvedeva, a die-hard fan of Japanese anime Sailor Moon, is known for having skated as Usagi Tsukino, the main character of the anime, in exhibition performances.
