Tokyo Metro has unveiled the new Marunouchi Line 2000 series trains scheduled to hit the rails in February next year.
The new-look trains feature a "Glowing Scarlet" exterior paintwork as the Marunouchi carriages return to their trademark red color for the first time in 30 years.

Tokyo Metro plans to introduce 53 of the new trains by fiscal 2022. The 2000 series will feature round windows on the carriage ends.
The 2000 Series train carriage interiors boast an increased seat width per person and small tables (shelves) for passengers to rest their items on.

Air conditioning features improved functions, while there will be two power points per car for passengers to charge phones and other hand-held devices.

The Marunouchi Line runs from Ikebukuro through the heart of the Japanese capital, stopping at Tokyo, Kasumigaseki and Akasaka-Mitsuke en route towards Shinjuku in western Tokyo. The line carries roughly 1.35 million passengers daily.
