Japan's Naomi Osaka will face Karolina Pliskova in the final of the Toray Pan Pacific Open following her 6-2, 6-3 semifinal win over Camila Giorgi on Saturday.

"I was nervous, because I really wanted to win," No. 3 seed Osaka said in a courtside interview sprinkled with Japanese phrases.

The 20-year-old of Haitian and Japanese descent will now play in her second straight final on Sunday after winning the U.S. Open earlier this month.

Osaka broke to go up 3-2 after winning a scintillating rally to set up the match's first break point at Arena Tachikawa Tachihi in western Tokyo.

After handing Giorgi the next point on an unforced error, Osaka unleashed three straight aces in an overpowering service game.

The local favorite converted her second break opportunity after falling behind 40-15 and losing a tough rally. Osaka then served out to take the set.

It took three break points for Osaka to take lead in the second set, going up 3-2 on an unforced error.

Osaka, who never faced a break point from her dangerous but inconsistent Italian opponent, forced deuce On Giorgi's serve before two straight errors by the Italian ended the match.

"I knew she was going to play well, so I just wanted to survive the match," Osaka said. "The way she plays if she's on, it's almost impossible to beat her."

"I don't think I am better, but we have two completely different games. And mine just happened to be better today."

"It's a little surprising, but I felt a little calm coming into my first-round match here. Today was the first time I felt nervous."

Czech fourth seed and world No. 8 Pliskova blew a first-set lead before beating 45th-ranked Croat Donna Vekic 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.

Vekic dug in her heels in two marathon third-set games and then fended off two match points before succumbing.

"We've played twice," Osaka said of Pliskova. "I know that she's a great player. She has basically every shot and a really good serve, so I know it's going to be a really difficult match."

The crowd had more to celebrate after Osaka's victory, when Japan's Miyu Kato and Makoto Ninomiya beat top-seeded Czechs Andrea Sestini Hlavackov and Barbora Strycova 6-4, 6-4 in the doubles final.
