The Chicago Cubs' Yu Darvish will miss the rest of the 2018 season after suffering a stress reaction in his right elbow, the team announced Tuesday.

The news came after the 32-year-old Japanese ended a minor league rehab start early on Sunday and requested an MRI, after again experiencing discomfort in his pitching elbow.

Darvish, who has been on the disabled list since May 23 with right triceps tendinitis, is 1-3 with a 4.95 ERA in eight starts with the Cubs this season. He signed a six-year, $126 million deal with the club in February.
