Shohei Ohtani crushed a three-run home run on Saturday, his 13th of the season, as the Los Angeles Angels rallied to an 11-7 win over the Texas Rangers.

At Globe Life Park in Arlington, Ohtani came on in the seventh inning as a pinch-hitter after Albert Pujols singled in his second go-ahead run of the game to make it 7-6.

The Japanese rookie took two balls and a strike from Texas reliever Eddie Butler (1-2) before connecting on fastball for a three-run blast over the center field wall.

"It was a scoring opportunity, so I wanted to be proactive," Ohtani said. "I swung well and was able to elevate it relatively easily. I've been connecting (on that kind of pitch) more lately, so I think it's a good trend."

Angels' rookie Taylor Ward, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI in his debut last week, capped the five-run rally with his first career home run.

Pujols homered in the second to tie the game 1-1, and drove in two runs in the third for a 3-2 Angels' lead. David Fletcher doubled in three more with the bases loaded in the fourth, but the Rangers tied it with four runs in the bottom of the inning.

Los Angeles starter Andrew Heaney fanned five but gave up 10 hits and six runs in 5-1/3 innings. Cam Bedrosian (5-2) picked up the win for closing out the sixth.

At Petco Park, reliever Yoshihisa Hirano allowed the game-winning hit, letting an inherited runner score as the Arizona Diamondbacks fell 7-6 against the San Diego Padres.

Hirano replaced Andrew Chafin (1-4) in the ninth with two outs and a runner on second.

The Japanese right-hander intentionally walked his first batter, then gave up a walk-off single to pinch-hitter Christian Villanueva, which ended the Diamondbacks' three-game winning streak.

Hirano was credited with his fourth win of the season on Friday for retiring the side in order in the sixth inning of the Diamondbacks' 9-4 win over the Padres. The four-game series concludes Sunday.
