Turkmenistan wrestler Rustem Nazarov became the first athlete at the Asian Games to be disqualified for failing a doping test, the organizing committee said Friday.

Nazarov, who was defeated in his first match against India's Sandeep Tomar on Sunday in the men's 57-kilogram freestyle, tested positive for the banned substance furosemide, a masking agent, in a pre-tournament test administered on Aug. 17.

His result at the tournament will be revoked under the regulations of the Olympic Council of Asia.

The quadrennial multisport tournament officially started on Aug. 18 in Jakarta and Palembang, the provincial capital of South Sumatra.
