Los Angeles Dodgers' right-hander Kenta Maeda will be activated off the disabled list and make his next start Wednesday in the second game of an interleague series against the Texas Rangers, club manager Dave Roberts announced Tuesday.

Maeda was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right hip strain after he was removed from a May 30 game against the Philadelphia Phillies in the second inning. A subsequent MRI revealed the injury, sending him to the DL for the second time in his career.

Elsewhere, Chicago Cubs' starter Yu Darvish, who is on the disabled list with right triceps tendinitis, threw his first bullpen session since May 26.

The right-hander, whose last start was on May 20 against the Cincinnati Reds, said he felt "really good" after the 31-pitch workout at Miller Park before the Cubs took on the Milwaukee Brewers.

"It's still in process, but I feel like I'm close to pitching in a game," Darvish said.

But neither Darvish nor Cubs' manager Joe Maddon wanted to estimate when the pitcher would return.

"We're at June 12, so it's about a month to the All-Star break. We'll see," Maddon said according to MLB.com. "If there's any chance prior to that, I'm into it. Whatever he thinks and the doctors think -- we'll find out more (on Wednesday).

Darvish said he intends to take time and work through the injury slowly, following his experience with a similar injury sustained with the Rangers in 2015, when he was laid out for the entire season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

It is the second time this season he has been on the disabled list following flu-like symptoms in early May.

Among other Japanese pitchers, Los Angeles Angels' righty Shohei Ohtani has begun rehab after suffering a Grade 2 sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament in his pitching arm. Angels' manager Mike Scioscia said Tommy John surgery is not yet a consideration for the two-way phenom, who may return to the lineup as a designated hitter.

New York Yankees' righty Masahiro Tanaka entered the 10-day DL Saturday with mild strains in both hamstrings.
