North Korean leader Kim Jong Un met Sunday with Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, ahead of the upcoming first-ever summit between Pyongyang and Washington.

After greeting Singaporean officials at the Istana, the Singapore president's official residence, Kim and Lee spoke to each other through interpreters, with the outset of their meeting being livestreamed.

"The entire world is watching the historic summit between the DPRK and the United States of America," Kim said, referring to his country by its official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Kim, who arrived in Singapore earlier Sunday, is scheduled to hold a historic summit with U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday in the city-state.
